The Peugeot 807 as a car to own.

Hello and welcome to my blog!

So lately I have been alright with my 2005 Peugeot 807, it's an amazing car if you ask me. The thing I have found intriguing the most was the comfort and the great road behavior. The 807 is a French MPV (Minivan) built by Peugeot, it is closely related to the Citroen C8, Fiat Ulysse and Lancia Phedra. Those MPVs are renown as the Eurovans 2, surely you may have heard of Sevel Nord from somewhere?

The aspect I admire, is the agility and road performance of my 807, it's also quite economical when on the highways. At high speed (130 km/h or 80 mph) on the highways, the car is almost planted, although engine does scream slightly (3000 rpm).

The Peugeot 807 was also said to be way ahead of its time when it was released, this fact reminds me of the Citroen DS, SM and CX, the French cars which were ahead of their time... but they had one major flaw, their fancy design was impossible for repair garages to deal with. The Peugeot 807 is not entirely fancy or some exotic car, however it is a car with a unique design blended with conventional aspects (to ease reparation), to make life easy for everyone!

I feel like the design of the 807 is non-conventional, in the sense, it almost the complete opposite of what you would find in a VW Sharan or Ford Galaxy. For example, the open floor in the 807, between the driver seat and the front passenger seat, that is useful, but not a convenience that comes in the German rivals.

The used German MPV rivals (Ford Europe, Volkswagen and Opel mainly) are about: You get EXACTLY what you pay for. No money no honey.

For example, if you need a weak engine (like 80kw) to satisfy your insurance, you are more than likely going to come across a used German mpv with a basic appeal (interior and performance wise), with no interesting aspect, despite the loud chants about German quality being supreme. However you could buy fully loaded used German mpv (with leather seats, A/C, sunroof, etc..), but that could be enough to explode your savings, and the insurance price immediately fires up, along with a price tag of the vehicle itself. The more money, the better the car. The little money, the worse the car.

The used Japanese MPV rivals (Toyota and Nissan mainly) are about: You get more than what you pay for.

However, the main issue about Japanese mpvs are, how rare they are, and if one does manage to find them, the MPVs are either: Going to be very expensive than other choices, or very old (old to a point it may fail its technical control, thus becoming illegal to use on the road).

The used French MPVs are almost similar in terms with the Germans, they are about: You get what you pay for, with slightly more dressings.

With the Germans, its like you get exactly what you pay for (as I said before), for example you only get the fancy leather seat, but that's it, nothing more, if you need more, you have to pay for it. Their base models tend to be basic, like no A/C, or any bit of convenience.

Whereas with the French its like a package, on the base model of the Peugeot 807, you already get a lot of heavenly conveniences, like: an integrated interior fridge, mirror adjustment buttons, A/C, manual seating adjustments with a variety of position choices, and so on!

While the German emphasize on quality and price tag a lot, the French emphasize on design and practicality.

The only downside I have with my 807, can be common with most French cars of 10-15 years old... is the interior quality, there are some parts that are slightly loose. That too the pan under the engine came loose, to I had a mechanic remove it for me. Rust is no problem.

Thank you and please don't hesitate to share your thoughts!
